PAUL ROSE - Sierra Roc - drummer
Paul began performing publicly when he was 15, in and around the greater Lake Tahoe area, supported by 8 years of percussion training in public school. After a stint in Los Angeles in the music production industry, Paul returned to his hometown of Truckee, CA. He constructed and operated High Altitude Studios, producing and recording bands, as well as working as a DJ.
Paul reconnected with his high school bandmate Sheldon Felich and became the drummer for the popular Tahoe area band “The Nerve,” performing 80’s pop and “The Decoys,” again joining Felich, Randy Blake, and Steve Dick. Later, he played with quality bands that opened for major acts, including: Nicholette Larson, Chris Hillman, and Taj Mahal. He formed a Dan Fogelberg tribute band with fellow schoolmates, called “River of Souls,” participating both as drummer and production manager. The band ultimately performed in Fogelberg’s hometown of Peoria, Illinois for Fogelberg’s national fan club.
Paul is a founding member of the Truckee Alliance for the Musical Arts (T.A.M.A.), an organization comprised of Tahoe/Truckee musicians. The organization produces large scale shows locally and uses the proceeds to perpetually fund a music scholarship in the name of the band leader from Paul’s first band, who succumbed to cancer at age 22.
Currently, being the drummer for Sierra Roc has drawn out Paul’s lust for an edgier set of commercial classic-to-current rock tunes (with some top-notch originals in the mix). Paul is in his element on stage with the high level performance band Sierra Roc, which allows him to showcase a more aggressive drumming style than in his past endeavors.
Paul is self-employed in water systems, can sometimes be found on the pickle ball court, and spends quiet time with his lovely wife of many years.
